About Us

Our mission

The area looked quite different than it does today. Traffic was sparse on the gravel road that led up to the ski hill, and homes and condos were just starting to creep up here and there, blending into the landscape. Restaurants and businesses were far and few between.

However, all that didn’t last long; as Big Sky quickly earned a reputation for world-class skiing, and with its close proximity to Yellowstone National Park, the small town evolved into an escape and an outdoor wonderland for both tourists and a steadily increasing local population.

Bob’s first project in Big Sky was working on the Hidden Village Condominiums, some of the first units in the Meadow. Since that time, Biggerstaff Construction has gone on to build more than 500 structures in the surrounding area, including some of Big Sky’s landmarks and infrastructure, such as the Milkies Pizza complex, Arrowhead Condominiums, the Arrowhead Mall (home of Lone Mountain Sports and Scissorbills), Beaverhead Condominiums and the Mint restaurant in Belgrade, not to mention numerous custom homes.

After graduating from Montana State University in Business Management, Marketing and International Business, Bob’s son Jerad came on board, making this a family business and carrying on the legacy as part owner.

There’s a reason Biggerstaff Construction is still thriving as one of the longest running construction companies in the area.  Over the years, they have made a commitment to building quality structures and listening carefully to client’s needs and expectations.   They have also made a commitment to building quality, lasting relationships within the Big Sky, Bozeman and building communities.  To this day, Biggerstaff has strong connections with some of the best sub-contractors, architects and suppliers around which, in turn, benefits their clients.

Since he built that first home 30 years ago, Bob says that he has always made an effort to “build strong relationships with, and take care of people.”

  • Bob Biggerstaff

    Member, Owner

staff_bob-biggerstaffAfter graduating from Montana State University, Bob traveled around until the allure of the mountains brought him back to the Bozeman area. In 1980, he moved to Big Sky and started Biggerstaff Construction. Since that time, he has developed core relationships with area contractors, architects, and suppliers – leading Biggerstaff Construction to build some of Big Sky’s landmarks and infrastructure, as well as numerous private homes. Bob has been an integral part in many other facets of the community as well, including the BSOA, Big Sky Chamber, and Ophir School Board. Bob has served as a board member and chairman of these organizations and helped create school budgets; approve curriculum; interview and hire teachers; and form the Big Sky water and sewer, transportation, zoning, and resort tax districts – just to name a few. He credits Biggerstaff’s longevity and all-star reputation to their commitment to clients and quality craftsmanship.

  • Jerad Biggerstaff

    Member, Owner

staff_jerad-biggerstaffJerad was raised in Big Sky, Montana and grew up working for his father, giving him the opportunity to carry on the long standing Biggerstaff building legacy. He graduated from Montana State University with degrees in Business Management, Marketing and International Business. Soon after graduation, Jerad became a construction Project Manager and a Realtor, which he still practices under ERA Landmark. Jerad has moved through many positions in the company, from a General Laborer to his current position as Vice President. He has maintained the same solid relationships with the community, contractors, architects and suppliers that Bob set in place, and has developed new relationships along the way. Like his father, Jerad is dedicated to being a part of the Big Sky and Bozeman communities, and building strong, respected relationships with the community and clients.
